Diva Challenge #204 - "Valentangle."

This weeks Diva Laura's Challenge is to get into the Valentine Spirit. This was a terrific challenge. I kept it clean and simple this week. Paradox is an Official Zentangle® Pattern, and one that I have had a hard time using. I spent an evening exploring Paradox in my sketchbook and could see it developing into its beautiful potential as I tried different approaches to this Pattern. It is looking very nice now, and is on my favorite list. My heart shaped pattern is Heartfully by Helen Williams. The first time I tried this pattern I was fascinated with its potential and beautiful flow and form. I drew it here without inking in the Grid Lines. This Pattern is also on my favorites list.

Patterns:
1- Paradox - Zentangle®
2- Heartfully - Helen Williams
3- Stripes - (?)

Tile: 3.5" square Fabriano Tiepolo Stock.

Thanks to everyone who commented on last weeks Challenge. I so much enjoy sharing our responses to Lauras Challenges and to each others art. You are all special friends and I appreciate each one of you.

  2. I love heart fully too, one of my favs. Excellent tangle I love your comments too, although I haven't felt up to tangling lately. The snow depresses me and then I fell in it. But I still look at people's work and wish for inspiration, which I always get from your artwork. It's a great community.

  4. This is as cute as can be. I love the little blue pearls peeking out from the paradox folds! and Heartfull...now there's one I haven't worked with. Getting me some ideas! Your shading, as always, makes things so dimensional. Great work, friend!

  7. Wow, David, your tile is so beautiful! The Heartfully pattern looks so nice with the little red colour in it and I love Paradox too!

  8. Lovely, as always, and your shading is superb. I really like your paradox. There's a great tutorial at Margaret Bremner's blog Entusiastic Artist about doing paradox in all sorts of ways. (which, I still didn't understand until my dear physicist hubby showed me how it works...). Happy Valentine's Day!

  9. This is lovely - i expected no less. I haven't seen Heartfully before but now you have me longing to try it out. The lovely fluid Paradox is splendid and looks as if it is wrapped around the blue. Overall, there is broderie anglais in the middle and beautifully sculpted depth, light and shade. What a tile, with just three patterns!

  21. Great tile! Your Pardox looks really beautiful! I take too little time to sketch patterns to practrice them, should do that more often like you do ;-)

  24. You produced a very Valentangly tile, David. Very nice. I also just recently "mastered" Paradox and it is also now one of my favorites. I've never seen heartfully before, so I'll need to give that a try. I also appreciate your thoughtful comments on my Diva challenge shares.

  25. Your tile is outspoken and very bold - just like love should be! You are also very masterful at shading and you have my admiration.

I am really only just learning more about shading. It is sometimes messy because my hands tend to perspire often and it tends to frustrate me instead, quite the opposite of acquiring zen :P :P

  26. Hello David from the UK...I was hoping to get my comments done before I left but alas no such organization in my life these days. First thank you for being such a dedicated commentor...your are a good role model for me, as I know that comments are what keeps some of us connected and encouraged to create more. Really LOVE your paradox this week with the turquoise centers, fun to see such creativity being shared in the way of color this week!
