Challenge #184- ING

This weeks Challenge is to use a new Pattern from ZenTangle, by Molly Hollibaugh. It is called, "ING." A lot can be done with this pattern and it is a lot of fun to draw. It is easy to use, and the results can look very complex.

My Patterns for this Challenge that I can name are:

1- ING, Zentangle.
2-Xplode, Margaret McKerhan.

Tile Size: 3.5 x 4 inches.

I was going to make another Black and White Tile this week, but when I got to that decision point, the ING pattern looked just like the visual disturbance that I see in my eyes just before a Migraine Headache. It's a pre-warning for me and I head for the meds. It has saved me many times. What I see though, is not in black and white, but rather in color, and it shimmers and grows. So I colored it with the colors I see in my pre-warning. This part of my tile looks just like what I see in my eyes. I'd be interested to know if any of you who have been plagued with Migraines have seen anything like this.

  1. Great piece. I myself have only had a few migraines and have never had the aura. I have had others report it. Not sure they would depict quite so beautifully though. Like your Dragonair and vine crossing under ING.

  2. Very pretty tile. Sorry you had to endure pain to achieve this (they say we suffer for our art). I have never experienced a migraine, but have heard of others seeing an aura. My daughter hit her head so hard once she said all she saw was white.

  3. The first time I lost my vision, which is the aura I get when I have "atypica:l migraines (because I have no follow-up headache), I was terrified. Later, I found it to be so fascinating. I get blinking lights and the blackness moves in from the outside and then, after I totally lose my vision, it slowly twinkles back. Yours is so much prettier though and what a great idea to use it as an inspiration for your tile!

  4. Great tile, David. Sorry you had to experience a migraine to get the inspiration for it. Never having had one, I have no frame of reference. But it certainly inspired a beautiful tile.

  5. I love your tile David! And yes, it looks just like the aura I get with my migraines. But I don't call it an "aura", but I call it "the jaggies" because of all those jagged pointed flashes that dart through my vision. I love the colors you used and it's unfortunate that we have to see these before the headache. But I find as I get older, the migraines don't come quite as often. Hope yours settle down too :)

  8. I used to suffer from migraines, now controlled by daily medication, but I've never seen anything like this. In face, I didn't have visual triggers. But I like what you have done and I can see that it is dynamic. Your have made great choices in the patterns around ING.

  21. You've mad a complex piece by "growing " the pattern and then adding colour. My migraines, which have grown fewer, were always presaged by my vision gradually closing in, with the periphery being like frosted glass. No explosion of colour for me and yet I can imagine how those jagged edges represent pain. Be well, David and may you have more patterns and less pain.
