Diva Challenge #221 - Beads of Courage

This weeks challenge is Beads of Courage. This wonderful program awards very ill children with a beautiful bead as an award for undergoing scary proceedures during their health care. Collecting these beads displays the courage of these brave children. The beads challenge can also be used as an inspiration to create a tribute. Last year my response to the Beads of Courage were for my Son who died of Cancer, This year my Tile is to honor Artoo, the bravest little boy I know, and my wife who passed away in February. A simple clean tile for a loving wife, mother, and friend. She would have liked this tile as she commented on every Tile, Tangle, and Pattern I drew. Losing two loved ones in one year is very tough. I love Zentangles, and the Diva Challenge community. I appreciate the support and encouragement I receive in the comments and art that each of you share each week.

  1. Even without the dedication this tile is lovely, symbolic of love and courage. With the dedication, it's heartbreaking. Be strong, David.

  2. This idea of necklace putting on pearls, heart and (seems to me) capsules of medicine pleases me a lot. The garland of hearts is magnificent!

  8. Beautiful and detailed tile David. Not sure what tangle it is but really like the descending tangle on the left. Is that Lolo? Nice tribute for your family as well as Artoo. Glad that you feel the support of those around you as well as the internet community of tanglers.

  12. David, your tile is absolutely gorgeous, and a wonderful tribute to your wife, to Artoo, and to your son. You have endured such loss in such a short time, and my heart really goes out to you. I am honored to have met you at CZT 19, and will always admire your gentle spirit and beautiful artwork. May you find strength and courage to go forward into whatever the future brings for you. 16. Hi David,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost some near and dear ones, myself, and I more than understand the emptiness they leave behind. We can only choose to celebrate their lives in the most meaningful ways we can and know how. It is so sweet that you dedicated this tile to her.
This is such a beautiful tile too - I love how fluid and light it is. Even the border which turned into an aura, lightly shaded, is so elegant in contrast with the dancing colours and shapes. Simply beautiful!

  18. I love your tile, David. It's a loving tribute to your wife and Artoo.
Like Hesedetang I hope you are able to celebrate the lives of the loved ones you lost. And keep talking (and of course thinking) of them, I know from my own loses that that can help and also make them immortal in a way.
