This weeks challenge marks a milestone, of sorts, for me. This is the first challenge created on a Tile made from the Fabrino Tiepolo stock. Until now my Sketchbook was the home for my challenge tangles. It's taken me 21 challenges to get to this point. The Tiepolo stock is awesome, and this challenge tangle looks way better on the original tile than after scanning and uploading to this page.
I have not looked at what other artists have done with this challenge yet. It is always a wondrous exploration to see what delightful creations are drawn by the contributors to these Challenges. Thanks Laura.
Thanks for the many wonderful comments on last weeks Challenge #190-Tribute to Breast Cancer awareness.

Love the movement you achieved with the curved lines. Thank you, David
ReplyDeleteNicely done David. I love how it has a very sea like appearance, and the movement it has. Yep, gotta love the Fabrino paper! Nice stippled frame too!
ReplyDeleteI've been working in a sketch book as well. I've heard the tiles are wonderful, but haven't made the investment. Maybe when I get to my 21st challenge. :) I really like how you used the echoes and stipple to enhance the design. Great work as always.
ReplyDeleteLovely tile.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I tangle on 'Mandala paper' that you can buy here in Holland. To be honest I prefer it over the original Zendala tiles.
ReplyDeleteI love the movement you made in your tile and the border is great. May 'steal' this one day.
This is a whimsical take on Betweed and I like the fluidity of the star shape, as if it is spinning. The stippled border is such a clever addition, drawing it all together. Lovely.
ReplyDeletevery imaginative!
ReplyDeleteLove the curved way you made this "Betweed" Star.
ReplyDeleteAnd also the stippled border.
Great tile David, it is always good to go back to the basics. Love the stipple border shading,
ReplyDeleteBetweed in the star shape is always nice, but this one is even more beautiful! It reminds me a bit of auraknot.
ReplyDeleteNice movement in your zentangle!
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful shape from your betweed with the aura's. Also your border is wel done.
ReplyDeleteOh this is just perfect. Love how you have got the movement into the shape - really good. Axxx
ReplyDeleteI think we all have a lot of favorites. My favorite tends to be the one I am doing at the moment! Your Betweed is perfectly done by keeping it simple. Isn't it amazing what a difference there is when you use the quality paper? I find it slows me down because of the slight drag, causing me to actually get into the Zen mode and do a better job.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your border - really is lovely around your tangle!
ReplyDeleteYour Betweed makes me think of an exotic starfish! Your simple border is really pretty too, and reinforces the "sandy beach" atmosphere :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteNice idea to use Betweed this way. Beautiful tile!
ReplyDeleteVery nice tile! I love the movement you gave it, we can literally see it turn. I also admire the frame, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is very neat David! I never thought of putting Betweed in Fengle! And yes, Fabriano Tiepolo is stunning high quality paper and takes a light water colour wash nicely if ever you find yourself wanting to try that.
ReplyDeleteNicely done - I love the stippled border. Beautiful tile.
ReplyDeleteHow do you do that? :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous and elegant! Great the whirl movement!
ReplyDeleteIt's like a spinning star! I am getting so excited to try that Tiepolo paper...
ReplyDeleteand I just noticed how the aura's add so much depth...this is a really nice piece!
Deletevery nice tangle, David. I love the sense of movement you have achieved and the elegance of your lines
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, this has a lot of movement and nice linework. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteLove the stippling border. Unique to use Auraknot as the string for Betweed. Gives a great sense of movement with the auraing.
